The Children’s Center offers much need childcare as well as special education services within inclusive and specialized settings depending on the child’s needs at our location in Augusta. Our program in Farmington also offers special education in specialized settings.
The Augusta location offers childcare for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years in one of three inclusive early education settings from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. year-round, except for observed holidays. The agency uses and adapts the Creative Curriculum as the foundation for every program including the specialized and inclusive early education classrooms in order to ensure smooth transitions as children progress from specialized programs to less restrictive environments. Typically, developing children become peer role models for their friends with special needs while also learning that every individual has their own strengths and specific challenges.
Overseen by Certified Special Education Teachers, children receive individualized instruction in a specialized classroom or inclusive setting, depending on the strengths and needs of each child. The program focuses on pre-academic skills and readiness for the public school setting. Children may receive special education services in conjunction with other specialized services through the Autism or Behavioral Support Programs. Educators, clinicians, and behavioral analysts work closely together to ensure that the child receives a comprehensive approach to treatment.
